What happens to personal information?
Messages sent to the AL are NOT private and may be read by others using the internet, now and in the future. The AL includes a searchable archive of all posts since 1994. We recommend that members use fictitious screen names or first names only as primary identifiers. For example, create a secondary email account with your current internet provider or with a free email provider such as Hotmail or Yahoo to handle all of your AL email. Instead of using your full name for your email address, use your first name or another name that does not identify you in any way. As far as other personal information is concerned, we suggest following this simple rule: If you don’t want the world to know something about you or your family, then don’t post it! Messages sent to the AL cannot be edited, deleted, or otherwise altered once submitted. If you have questions about sharing personal information on the AL, feel free to e-mail the ADRC Education Director (webmaster@abraxas.wustl.edu).
