What is memory loss?
Some memory loss is a normal part of aging. Everyone forgets things; however, other kinds of memory loss might be signs of an illness. When memory loss interferes with day-to-day affairs, it might be more than normal aging.
Symptoms can include:
- forgetting to eat meals
- getting lost while driving or taking a walk
- consistently losing things
- problems starting or finishing activities
You can also view the Alzheimer's Association's 10 Early Signs and Symptoms of Alzheimer's. This is also
available as a printable PDF worksheet that you can fill out and take to your doctor if you have concerns
about your memory.
Abnormal memory loss is also associated with some important changes in behavior. People with memory
loss might become confused, angry, distrustful, sad or agressive.
If you think you might have memory loss, talk to your family and your doctor. Along with the 10 Signs Worksheet,
the Alzheimer's Association also has a printable Preparing for Your Doctor's Visit worksheet.
