The ADRC is committed to educating physicians and other health professionals about the early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and management of dementing disorders.
The Center sponsors periodic continuing medical education programs (see Upcoming Events on the homepage) and provides on-line training in the use of the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) interview and scoring system for quantifying cognitive-functional deficits (see CDR Menu).
We are especially interested in supporting the learning needs of rural clinicians and urban clinicians serving the needs of minority elders. Our Clinician Partners Program (CPP), funded by “Satellite” grants from the National Institute on Aging, is a 3-day mini-residency in Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis, treatment and care. CPP trainees come to St. Louis and participate in didactic training, clinical observation, and hands-on workshop activities. Physicians, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants are the primary targets for the CPP and are encouraged to apply. Those accepted for CPP training receive an all-expense-paid experience, including travel/lodging and up to 20 hours of AMA Category 1 CME credit.
