“Life, Death, and the Renewal of the Neuron: The Leap from Bench to Bedside” will take place on February 29th , 2008 , at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the campus of Washington University School of Medicine. This one-day symposium will be a celebration of the career of Eugene M. Johnson, Jr., Ph.D., Professor of Neurology, and Molecular Biology and Pharmacology. The day is structured to span topics from the basic science of neuronal survival to more translational work on neurodegenerative disease, with talks given by former Johnson laboratory trainees. The symposium will conclude by highlighting the process through which the neurotrophic factor, neurturin, is being brought to clinical trials.
